‘The Lake’ from geoff tompkinson on Vimeo.

For many years now I have been fortunate enough to live for part of each year on the shore of Lake Hallstatt in Upper Austria.

This video is not about the town - but about the Lake itself.

Hallstatt, the town, is famous for its production of salt, dating back to prehistoric times. It is a very popular summer tourist destination - so popular with the Chinese that they have actually built a replica of the town in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.

The whole area has Unesco World Heritage status.

Lake Hallstatt has been referred to as the “melancholic lake”, the “still fjord” and the “vision of a perfect mountain lake”. It is a classic relic of the Ice Age and it has a total area of 8.58 square KM lying between the steep Obertraun and Hallstatt mountains and Bad Goisern. It is the fifth largest of the Salzkammergut lakes.

Although this lake is one of the darker, colder, less inviting lakes of the region, as a photographer I decided to use this darkness and stillness as a device to reveal the true beauty of the lake through its mirror-like surface.

This is my reflective homage to

Braveheart from The Film Artist on Vimeo.

Dedicated to the memory of Braveheart, daughter of the World who tragically lost her battle for life on the 29th December 2012 after the most vicious attack possible in Delhi, India, but in doing so will undoubtedly save the dignity and souls of many others, a true Martyr, modern day Saint and Angel.

A Poem by Amitabh Bachchan

“With the passage of time, the candles shall burn out and lose their flame…
The flowers offered with devotion, shall in the absence of water, get dry and weathered out…
The voices of protest both vocal and silent, shall lose their strength…
But the ‘fearless’ ( nirbhayata ) fire that has been ignited, shall rekindle the flames in our hearts…
The waterless dry and weathered flowers, shall be brought to life drenched by the tears in our eyes…
With a burning throat the soul of ‘Damini’ and ‘Amaanat’, shall be voiced in the entire universe…
That I am the Mother, sister and daughter of my Bharat…
Respect and dignity are my birthright possessions ..
Bharat the country is my Mother…
Forget about me, become at least the recognised worthy face of your Mother..”

Journey through 2012 from creativelikeminds on Vimeo.

The concept behind this was very simple. I wanted to document my entire year from urban life through the mountain wilderness, using inexpensive, and affordable cameras, rigs, and lenses of what’s readily available inside my camera bag, or even sometimes what I have in my pocket(s).

It has been a fun year of trials, tribulations, and lessons through my first year of filming. It’s amazing of what you can see, do, the adventures along the way, and expeditions you go through within a full year.

365 days…don’t they go by in a blink?…

igh.photo-alsace.com

The “Alsace timelapse” project is the fruit of the collaboration of three French artists from Strasbourg, and the fusion of their photographic, editing and musical talents. The collective, baptized IGH, presents a short film entirely produced through the time-lapse photography technique. Combining thousands of photographs captured over a period of two years across the Alsace region by the photographer Jean Isenmann, and edited by Julien Guntz against a musical background by Marco Havnin, this film attempts to encapsulate the magnificence of the Alsace region in all its aspects.
